After playing 11 games for Memphis 901 FC in the USL Championship, Rashawn Dally rejoined FC Cincinnati on Tuesday morning after he was recalled on loan.
The Jamaican forward, who was recalled Monday afternoon, will be available for selection in Cincinnati’s match against the New York Red Bulls at Nippert Stadium on Saturday night.
“It means a lot to me,” Dally said about the return to the MLS club. “Coming in as a rookie, my goal was always to try and play here. Obviously, things have happened for my development and I went to Memphis for a while, but it’s good to be back.”
While on loan with Memphis, Dally scored once and played as both a forward and winger. He said his speed and athleticism could help the Orange and Blue if Interim Head Coach Yoann Damet plays the rookie in an upcoming match.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday morning, Damet seems as excited to have Dally available for selection.
“I’m happy to have him back,” he said. “I think he brings a different option up front. He’s a young player and he got a lot of minutes for Memphis. I was very happy with him in preseason and I think he’s going to be a great addition for our roster in the coming games.”
While Dally could play in MLS matches, he could also participate in a potential cup run for FC Cincinnati. The club begins play in the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup next month.
“The most important thing to us was to have him back to try and understand what we implement on a daily basis,” Damet said. (Also, it’s about) what we expect tactically in terms of the positioning, but also defensively. That’s the reason why we brought him back.”
On Monday, it was also announced that Dally made the Jamaica National Team’s 40-player provisional roster for the upcoming 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. The announcement was the first step in Dally potentially making the Reggae Boyz national team.
“It’s a good thing,” he said. “(It’s something) I want to do in my career. So, to make the provisional roster, that’s a good step, but I just want to continue to focus on how I can get better every single day. Once I do that, I know all these things will fall into place.”
Darren Mattocks and Alvas Powell were also named to Jamaica’s provisional roster. The 23-man rosters are announced next month.
