2019 – Orange and Blue in Frankie Amaya’s pro debut
After two-straight wins, FCC lost, 2-0 to the Philadelphia Union at Nippert Stadium. The playing conditions were easily the worst in club history, as a cold, steady deluge fell throughout the match and wind whipped around the stadium’s lower bowl. Add to that, the temperature dropped significantly at halftime as the players came out to significantly colder weather for the second half.
Cincinnati allowed two second-half goals: Marco Fabian scored in the 47th minute and David Accam doubled FCC’s deficit 10 minutes later. However, the result – nor the weather – was the story of the night.
Amaya, the No. 1 pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft played the final 14 minutes of the match and made his professional debut.
Here was the lineup former head coach Alan Koch used: Spencer Richey, Mathieu Deplagne, Nick Hagglund, Forrest Lasso, Greg Garza, Leo Bertone, Victor Ulloa, Roland Lamah, Allan Cruz, Darren Mattocks and Kekuta Manneh. Amaya, Caleb Stanko and Kenny Saief were the three used substitutes.
