CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati has added former Norway international and MLS center back Pa-Modou Kah to its technical staff as a member of the scouting staff, Technical Director Luke Sassano announced today.

Kah joins the Orange and Blue from Vancouver Whitecaps FC, where he was most recently an assistant coach with the club’s MLS team and was the head coach of its Under-18 squad.

“We are delighted to add someone with Pa’s playing and coaching experience to our technical staff as we continue to build out our scouting network,” Sassano said. “With a well-respected career in both MLS and Europe, Pa offers a unique perspective on the qualities and characteristics needed for players to succeed in the North American market.”

A former Norway international, Kah earned 10 caps between 2001 and 2008 and moved to MLS in 2013 as a member of the Portland Timbers. He played two seasons in Portland before moving to Whitecaps FC in 2015, where he split time between the club’s MLS and USL teams, the latter as a player-coach under current FC Cincinnati head coach Alan Koch.

“We are excited to add Pa to our club,” Koch said. “From my time working with him as a player and a coach in Vancouver, I have seen first-hand his eye for talent and his ability to build relationships with those around him. I am incredibly excited to add someone with his technical ability and knowledge of MLS to our group.”

Prior to his arrival in North America, Kah began his playing career with Norway’s Vålerenga in 1998, where he played six seasons before moving to AIK for one year before a move to Roda JC in The Netherlands for seven seasons and more than 200 appearances. After two seasons in the Middle East with Al Khor (Qatar) and Al-Wehda (Saudi Arabia), Kah moved to MLS.

In 2016, Kah and Koch helped lead Whitecaps 2 to the USL Playoff. Since the 2017 season, Kah has been a club coach with Whitecaps FC, assisting the first team and coached the U18 team.

“I want to thank Jeff Berding, Luke and Alan for believing in me and giving me the chance to be part of this great organization,” Kah said. “I’m looking forward to star in my role and help the club progress to new heights.”
