CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati have signed goalkeeper Evan Louro to a contract through the end of the 2022 season, with club options for 2023 and 2024, the club announced today.
Louro, 26, played the past two seasons in the USL Championship with the Tampa Bay Rowdies. In 2021, he won the league’s Golden Glove award, conceding just 23 goals across 31 regular season games, keeping a league-best 14 clean sheets.
“I’d like to welcome Evan to FC Cincinnati,” said Chris Albright, FC Cincinnati General Manager. “He’s a talented goalkeeper and an excellent teammate, and we’re excited to add him to the group.”
Louro was the 2021 USL Championship Goalkeeper of the Year and was named First Team All-League. He made 53 appearances across all competitions with the Rowdies over two seasons, as Tampa Bay reached back-to-back USL Championship Finals.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity to be at FC Cincinnati,” said Louro. “Everyone has been super welcoming, which is a direct reflection on the type of culture Coach Noonan and his staff have created here. I’m excited to get going and work with Coach Rogers and the incredible group of goalkeepers and to get back to where I was before my injury. To the fans, I can promise is that I will be the hardest worker in the room, and the rest will take care of itself.”
Prior to joining Tampa Bay, Louro was the second Homegrown goalkeeper signing in New York Red Bulls history. The South River, New Jersey native made 80 appearances for New York Red Bulls II over three seasons.
