The Leagues Cup Organizing Committee put out the following release overnight:
New York and Mexico City (Friday, July 28, 2023) – As a result of the forecasted thunderstorms, the match originally scheduled for Thursday, July 27 between FC Cincinnati and Chivas de Guadalajara will resume on Friday, July 28 at 2 p.m. ET and will be made available on MLS Season Pass. Due to the tight turnaround, and to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of players, staff and fans, the match will be played behind closed doors.
The match will resume in accordance with Article 10.8 of the Leagues Cup 2023 Competition Regulations, which state the match must continue with the same score, in the same minute it was interrupted (60'), and with the same players on the field and substitutes available. In the same way, the participating clubs will only be able to make the same number of remaining substitutions allowed at the time of the suspension and the sanctions imposed during the match will be maintained.
