FC Cincinnati defender Kendall Waston has been named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Week for Week 9. It his second Team of the Week selection of the 2020 MLS regular season – he was also named following the final group stage matches of the MLS is Back Tournament.
Waston played a key part in FC Cincinnati’s Week 9 match, as the Orange and Blue posted their fifth clean sheet of the club’s last six matches in a scoreless draw against Chicago Fire FC at Nippert Stadium on Saturday night.
The Costa Rican center back won 8-of-9 duels, including 4-of-4 aerial duels, to pace FC Cincinnati in both categories. The FCC captain also recorded a team-high seven clearances and registered four interceptions in the match.
Waston has made nine appearances, all starts, and has captained every match for the Orange and Blue this season.
FC Cincinnati will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 6, when the team plays Columbus Crew SC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on WSTR 64, carried on the radio on WDJO (99.5 FM, 107.9 FM and 1480 AM), streamed regionally on fccincinnati.com/stream, out of market on ESPN+, while an audio stream will be available at TuneIn (WDJO) and fccincinnati.com.
