Orange and Blue’s center back claims spot on league’s weekly team for first time
CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati defender Paddy Barrett has been voted to the United Soccer League’s Team of the Week for Week 22 after a strong performance in FCC’s 1-0 win over Penn FC on Sunday, Aug. 12. This is Barrett’s first Team of the Week nod this season.
FCC’s center back – who captained the squad in Dekel Keinan’s absence – led the Orange and Blue to their 10th clean sheet of the season. Barrett posted match highs with five tackles and seven clearances and also won 13-of-21 duels.
On the season, Barrett has started all nine of his appearances, ranks third on the team in clearances with 39 and has contributed to three of FCC’s clean sheet performances. The Irishman recorded the game-winning goal for the Orange and Blue – his lone tally of the season – against New York Red Bulls II on July 21.
First-place FC Cincinnati (14-3-6, 48 pts.) concludes its six-match USL homestand in a contest against third-place Charleston Battery on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for that game are available at fccincinnati.com/tickets or by calling 513-977-KICK (5425).
