Orange and Blue’s captain claims spot on league’s weekly team for second time in 2018
CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati captain and center back Dekel Keinan has been voted to the United Soccer League’s Team of the Week for Week 25 after standout play in the Orange and Blue’s 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday night.
This is Keinan’s second nod on the USL Team of the Week this season after earning a place on the season’s first team in Week 1.
On Saturday in FCC’s come-from-behind victory over Pittsburgh, Keinan’s 80th-minute goal leveled the score at 1-1 before Cincinnati went on to win behind Fanendo Adi’s 88th-minute goal. It was Keinan’s second goal of the season and came off an Emmanuel Ledesma free-kick service.
Defensively, Keinan had a game-high seven clearances and added a game-high three interceptions, and also won a game-high six aerial duels.
FC Cincinnati (18-3-6, 60 pts.), who continues to lead the USL standings, became the first team to secure a berth in the 2018 USL Cup Playoffs with Saturday’s victory.
The Orange and Blue will be back on the road next weekend for a top-of-the-table clash when they travel down I-71 to face Louisville City FC at Louisville Slugger Field on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised live on WSTR 64 and streamed live on ESPN+.
