Orange and Blue’s midfielder claims spot on league’s weekly team for seventh time in 2018
CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma has been voted to the United Soccer League’s Team of the Week for Week 29 following his two-goal performance in FC Cincinnati’s 4-1 win at the Richmond Kickers on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
This is Ledesma’s seventh nod on the USL Team of the Week this season, and his sixth appearance on the team’s starting 11.
Ledesma was a key factor in FCC’s 4-1 victory on Wednesday, Sept. 26, which clinched the 2018 USL Regular-Season Championship for FC Cincinnati (23-3-6, 75 pts.). The USL MVP frontrunner recorded two goals and added two key passes in the win.
On the season, Ledesma now has 16 goals and 15 assists in 29 games played. He became the first player in USL history to record 15 goals and 15 assists in a season, and also became the first player in the USL’s modern era to record at least 30 combined goals and assists in a season.
Cincinnati is in the midst of a 21-game unbeaten run (17-0-4), which includes a USL-record 10-match winning streak.
The Orange and Blue will be back on the road this weekend when they Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at Highmark Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live on WSTR 64 and streamed live on ESPN+.
