Here's how FC Cincinnati honored Salute to Service Month

20230721 FCC Training 138

FC Cincinnati honored Salute to Service, an MLS Works Initiative, this month with an array of activations around matchday and the club. The celebration of our nation's service members included in game recognitions, partnerships with TAPS, Operation Ramp It Up, People Working Cooperatively, and more.

FC Cincinnati’s Pre-Match Party at Washington Park highlighted Military focused organizations and included a letter writing table to send well wishes to service members currently serving overseas.

The match then saw four color guards, and several opportunities for recognition for service members in attendance. FC Cincinnati players also recorded well wishes to the service men and women in the attendance that were played over the videoboard.

FC Cincinnati’s support went beyond the matchday though, participating in events to honor service members who call the Greater Cincinnati area home.

On July 25, FCC volunteers partnered with People Working Cooperatively by spending an afternoon completing external home improvement projects for a veteran who bravely served our country.

On July 22, club ambassador and former player Jimmy McLaughlin helped build a ramp for a veteran in partnership with Operation Ramp It Up, a non-profit that helps build ramps for those with accessibility needs.

And on July 21, members of the group TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors), an organization started to support families mourning the loss of a loved one who served in the military, were invited to Mercy Health Training Center to watch the first team train followed by the opportunity to meet some of the players and coaches. TAPS members were also in attendance for FC Cincinnati’s July 1 match against New England Revolution as part of our Community Partner of the Match program presented by Home City Ice. Lucas, an 11-year-old member of the group, was invited to deliver the game ball for the match as well.

FC Cincinnati is committed to honoring all service members and is proud to partner with these impactful organizations for the Salute to Service initiative.
