Following FC Cincinnati’s 3-2 win over the Houston Dynamo last Saturday night at Nippert Stadium, Interim Head Coach Yoann Damet made two changes to the starting lineup that earned its first win since May 11.
About the starters
Caleb Stanko and Alvas Powell replace Frankie Amaya and Nick Hagglund in the starting XI. Stanko makes his first start since June 19 in a 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match at Saint Louis FC. His last MLS start was June 6 at New York City FC.
As for Powell, he makes his first start since June 1 at the Colorado Rapids. Following that match, Powell joined Jamaica for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. Powell was a second-half substitute against Houston and played at left back for the first time this season.
About the bench
Logan Gdula is back on the bench against Chicago. His last time in the 18 was June 29 at Minnesota United FC, and if the rookie plays, it’ll be his MLS debut.
About the absences
No. 1 MLS SuperDraft pick Frankie Amaya is out of the 18 for the first time since May 1 at the Philadelphia Union. Amaya is missing Saturday night’s match with a knee injury.
Roland Lamah (hamstring), Fatai Alashe (hamstring) and Greg Garza (calf) are unavailable, while Darren Mattocks recently returned from Jamaica following a family matter. Mattocks was also with Powell at the Gold Cup with Jamaica.
