There are four changes to the FC Cincinnati starting XI ahead of Saturday night’s clash with NYCFC at Red Bull Arena.
Andrew Gutman, Haris Medunjanin, Tom Pettersson and Caleb Stanko all return to the lineup, replacing Frankie Amaya, Greg Garza, Adrien Regattin and Maikel van der Werff.
About the changes
Pettersson and Stanko start for the first time since Aug. 25 at Chicago Fire FC, while Medunjanin’s last start was Sept. 2 against the Fire at Nippert Stadium. Gutman makes his first start since Aug. 29, when Cincinnati held Columbus Crew SC to a scoreless draw.
As for the replaced players, Garza is the only one still available in the matchday squad. Van der Werff is absent with an injury, while Amaya is serving a one-match ban from yellow card accumulation.
Regattin was released from the team on Friday afternoon due to personal reasons.
As for changes to the matchday squad, Nick Hagglund is back in the 18 after missing last match – at Columbus Crew SC on Sept. 6 – with an injury.
About the absentees
Saad Abdul-Salaam, Jimmy McLaughlin and Maikel van der Werff will miss the match due to injury. Amaya is serving a one-game suspension for yellow card accumulation.
New signings Álvaro Barreal and Kamohelo Mokotjo will be added to the roster upon the receipt of their International Transfer Certificate, P1 Visa and completion of any mandatory quarantine period under local government and MLS health and safety protocol.
Both players joined FCC last month as the club’s two summer signings to this point.
