Emery Welshman headlined the weekend for FC Cincinnati players out on loan by providing the first assist in Canadian Premier League history on Saturday afternoon for Forge FC.
Here’s a look out how Welshman and the rest of the Orange and Blue players performed:
Canadian Premier League update:
Emery Welshman
Position: Forward
Club: Forge FC
Result: 1-1 draw against York9 FC
Welshman started and produced Forge FC’s first assist in club history on Saturday afternoon when he dribbled down the right flank toward the end line and crossed the ball to Kadell Thomas, who scored in the 78th minute. It was the first goal in Forge FC history – and the first goal in CPL history, too.
USL Championship
Frankie Amaya
Position: Midfielder
Club: Orange County SC
Result: 2-2 draw against Fresno FC
Amaya made his first professional start in the draw with Fresno FC and played an hour before being substituted. While on the field, the 18-year-old produced a 100% pass-completion rate from 23 attempts and created two chances. Both were passes to Harry Forrester and were saves.
Orange County conceded two goals after Amaya had been substituted. He is currently on loan at OCSC in the buildup to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup next month in Poland.
Rashawn Dally
Position: Forward
Club: Memphis 901 FC
Result: 1-0 loss against Charleston Battery
The Jamaican forward started and played the full match against the Charleston Battery on Saturday night, finishing with two shots and a chance created.
In the 71st minute, his header was sent toward the bottom right corner of the goal but was saved. He sent another header to the top right corner in first half stoppage time.
Overall, Dally has made seven starts in eight appearances. He has one goal and seven key passes.
Tommy McCabe
Position: Midfielder
Club: North Carolina FC
Result: 4-1 win against Hartford Athletic
McCabe didn’t play in the win as Head Coach Dave Sarachan opted for a squad rotation against Hartford – the only club in the league with no points.
Before the win, McCabe had played every minute this season for North Carolina FC. Through six appearances, he has six starts, two goals and three key passes.
Ben Lundt
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Louisville City FC
Result: Bye Week
The league’s reigning champions had the weekend off but host expansion side Memphis 901 FC on Tuesday night. If Lundt and Dally both play, it’ll be the second time two FC Cincinnati players on loan have faced each other in a USL Championship match. (The first occasion was Dally vs. McCabe on April 6 in a 1-1 draw.)
Logan Gdula
Position: Defender
Club: Phoenix Rising FC
Result: 0-0 draw at Sacramento Republic
Gdula didn’t make the 18 in the Rising’s draw. Once he features for Phoenix, it’ll be the fullback’s professional debut.
