Major League Soccer have announced the four finalists for the MLS All-Star Captain Fan Vote presented by Captain Morgan. One of the finalists selected as part of the MLS All-Star fan voting process – Luciano Acosta of FC Cincinnati, Christian Benteke of D.C. United, Roman Bürki of St. Louis CITY SC, and Walker Zimmerman of Nashville SC – will be named the captain of the 2023 MLS All-Star team.

New to the All-Star voting process in 2023, fans had the opportunity to nominate one of their 11 player selections as the captain of the MLS All-Star team. Of the players selected for the 2023 MLS All-Star team, the four players who received the most captain nominations from the fan vote are placed on a ballot and eligible to be selected by fans as the MLS All-Star captain.

Acosta, who has captained the Orange and Blue for a club-record 77 times, on Tuesday was named to the MLS All-Star team for the second-straight season. He was selected as one of FC Cincinnati’s MLS-best three All-Stars named to this year’s team alongside Álvaro Barreal and Matt Miazga.

The 29-year-old Argentine leads FC Cincinnati with nine goals this season in 18 regular season appearances. The attacking midfielder’s eight goals since May are second-most in MLS over that span behind only Nashville SC forward Hany Mukhtar (10).

FC Cincinnati fans can cheer on Acosta, Álvaro Barreal and Matt Miazga at the All-Star Game watch party at Rhinegeist on July 19 at 7:30 p.m. The first 100 fans (21+) will receive a free beer on Gary!
