FC Cincinnati midfielder Tommy McCabe, who’s on loan at North Carolina FC, won the USL Championship’s Goal of the Week, the league announced Thursday afternoon. He won with 42 percent of the vote.
McCabe unleashed a wicked left-footed volley from 20 yards out in stoppage time last Saturday night to equalize against Southern Derby foe, Charleston Battery. The match finished 1-1.
McCabe has produced a great start to his professional career. Through three league games, he has three starts and two goals for North Carolina. The club is unbeaten in the USL Championship.
Talk about a birthday present – the midfielder turned 21 on Thursday.
