FC Cincinnati defender Miles Robinson has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 14, the league announced Thursday.
The midweek recognition marks Robinson’s third honor of the season (MD 3, MD 5 – bench) and comes after Robinson and FCC earned their second win against Robinson’s former club, Atlanta United, on the season, both coming as part of an active five-match winning streak.
On Wednesday night at TQL Stadium, Miles Robinson finished with four clearances and completed over 86 percent of his passes. He continues to lead the league in balls won with 25, according to stats provider Sportec. Robinson has played a part in four of the teams five clean sheets this season as FC Cincinnati pace the league with just 10 goals conceded in 13 matches.
Robinson was the catalyst which led to the only goal of the match, dispossessing Thiago Almada just past midfield and advancing forward with the ball. Robinson charged to the top of the 18, and his shot was deflected wide. Luciano Acosta kept the ball in play and lofted a cross to Kevin Kelsy, who dunked it home with a header at the back post.
Acosta contributed to a goal for the seventh consecutive match and earns his league-leading eighth recognition to the Team of the Matchday and his fifth consecutive honor. Kelsy gets his inaugural Team of the Matchday nod in just his third match with the club. The 19-year-old Venezulan forward has scored in his last two matches.
Robinson’s, Acosta’s and Kelsy’s recognitions are the 14th, 15th and 16th recognitions for an FC Cincinnati player or coach on the weekly team this season. A full list of 2024 FC Cincinnati matchday honors:
