FC Cincinnati have loaned midfielder/forward Rey Ortiz to the Charlotte Independence for the 2020 USL Championship season.
Ortiz, 23, played four seasons at the University of Portland (2016-19), where he made 64 appearances, including 50 starts. The Acapulco, Mexico, native scored 14 goals and added 26 assists in his career with the Pilots. The midfielder/forward was named to the 2019 All-West Coast Conference First Team and the 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team.
FC Cincinnati announced the signing of Ortiz – the No. 29 overall selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft – on Friday, Feb. 21.
FC Cincinnati kick off their second MLS season at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, when the team opens the 2020 campaign on the road against the New York Red Bulls. After a road game at Atlanta United FC on Saturday, March 7, FCC will open their 2020 home slate on Saturday, March 14, when the team hosts D.C. United at Nippert Stadium in a 5:30 p.m. game.
Season Ticket Memberships are still available for purchase and start at $230 per ticket. A 2020 Season Ticket Membership also secures fans’ place on the club’s priority list, which will be utilized when sales begin in the new West End Stadium for the 2021 season.
