After much anticipation, FC Cincinnati's brand new 2018 home and away kits went on sale to the general public this week. The kits --an evolution of the club's inaugural kits that sport Bavarian diamonds as a way to pay homage to Cincinnati's rich German history -- have already proven wildly popular with the club's supporters after a successful presale.
But as preorders begin shipping out and fans start to pick up their new shirts in our downtown store, I thought it might be fun to take a look back at the kits worn by many of the city's previous professional and semi-professional clubs over the years. And for those not aware, the City of Cincinnati's history with professional soccer stretches far back before the launch of FC Cincinnati in 2015.
In fact, Cincinnati's professional soccer history begins all the way back to the 1970's, when the Cincinnati Comets played four seasons in
the long-defunct American Soccer League. Since then, twelve additional clubs have played the beautiful game in and around Greater Cincinnati, including the Orange & Blue:

It's a crowded, chaotic history, and very few of the club's had any sort of relationship with one another. So as you might expect, there's a fair amount of diversity in the colors, crests and kits dawned by each club.
