Tea Party! USWNT through to final

USWNT

The U.S. Women’s National Team is back in the FIFA World Cup final after beating England, 2-1, on Tuesday in the semifinals. The U.S. will play either Sweden or the Netherlands in the final, which will be played on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET in Lyon and televised live on FOX.

The U.S. took the lead in the 10th minute when Christen Press scored via a header. Alex Morgan did the same in the 31st minute to give the Americans a 2-1 lead after Ellen White scored for England 19 minutes in.

The English had an opportunity to equalize in the 84th minute after a VAR check awarded a penalty against the Americans, but goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher saved the attempt.

With the win, the Americans will play for a fourth – and second straight – World Cup title. The USWNT won in 2015.

Cincinnati native Rose Lavelle started and played 65 minutes for the U.S. before being substituted with an apparent hamstring injury.
