The U.S. Women’s National Team advanced to the 2019 FIFA World Cup semifinals after a 2-1 win against host nation France on Friday. The USWNT will play England on Tuesday, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. ET on Fox.
Megan Rapinoe scored both goals for the Americans, with the first coming five minutes into the match when she curved an in-swinging free kick in for an early lead. She doubled the U.S. lead in the 65th minute when she buried Tobin Heath’s cross.
The French responded in the 81st minute, however, when Wendie Renard headed home a free kick. The USWNT prevented the host nation from further goal-scoring opportunities.
Cincinnati native Rose Lavelle started the match as a right midfielder and played 63 minutes.
