FC Cincinnati defender Yerson Mosquera has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 10, the league announced Monday. Mosquera’s inclusion in the weekly best XI is the Colombian’s second such honor of the season (Matchday 6).

Mosquera scored the opening goal of the match against the New England Revolution Saturday night and earned the Orange and Blue a point on the road in an early season test between two of the league’s best sides. Mosquera’s two goals this season is tied for a league-lead among central defenders and have accounted for four points on the year for FC Cincinnati.

Against New England, Mosquera finished tied for a team-high in tackles (3, Miazga) and finished with the second-highest successful duel percentage amongst players who attempted 10 or more duels (62.5%; Noel Buck, 69.2%). On the year, Mosquera ranks second in MLS in interceptions (26) and tied for seventh in tackles (18).

Mosquera’s recognition in the Team of the Matchday is the 12th such honor for an FC Cincinnati player this season, following up on last week’s selection of Álvaro Barreal and Sergio Santos (bench). A full list of 2023 FC Cincinnati weekly honors:
