When reports came out this past weekend about FC Cincinnati’s interest in Jürgen Locadia, NBC Sports ran an article saying he would be “a massive coup for the Ohio club.” In addition, an article by Nicholas Mendola said, “Love this signing. Make it happen. It’s record-threatening good.”
This is some of the praise that outside media have shared in the past few days about FCC’s loan signing on Monday night. Here’s a roundup of what else was said:
“This is different. This is not Cincinnati of yesteryear.”
This comment from Andrew Wiebe, the host of MLS’ ExtraTime Podcast. He wasn’t the only one on the podcast praising the move.
“As for Locadia, it does feel a little bit like Josef Martínez in that he’s an in-his-prime player …who was maybe not in the best situation in a decent club in a top four league. The talent’s there. You can just watch his highlight film and you see the talent. And, you see the numbers he put up at PSV; it’s the type of move that, this is why you hire guys like (Gerard) Nijkamp and Ron Jans because they have the connections to make moves like this happen. It makes a lot of sense.” – MLSsoccer.com’s Matt Doyle
“There seems to be some good upside to this signing and there’s also a runway to make it at 26 years old, a guy who hasn’t been in good situations. If he’s happy, feels comfortable, you’ve got a few years in him. I like the fact they brought him in now and didn’t wait the six months … Get him in preseason, make him part of this team and make him part of Ron Jans’ plans going forward.” – David Gass on ExtraTime Podcast

But the love didn’t stop there.
Pat Brennan of The Cincinnati Enquirer wrote, “At FC Cincinnati, Locadia will be at the center stage and likely playing a leading role if all goes to plan.”
Praise came in tweets from outside media, too:
