CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati will host Inter Miami CF in a nationally televised contest on FOX and FOX Deportes in the first-ever match to be played at West End Stadium on Sunday, May 16 at 4 p.m. ET. The match will mark FC Cincinnati’s first home Major League Soccer match to be played at a venue other than Nippert Stadium. After the two sides played just once last season, the match will also be the first contest to be played between FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami CF in Cincinnati.
In addition to the club’s home opener, FC Cincinnati also learned their first two opponents of the 2021 MLS regular season schedule. The Orange and Blue will open their 2021 MLS campaign with a match against Nashville SC on Saturday, April 17. The following week, FCC will travel to play New York City FC on Saturday, April 24. FC Cincinnati’s season opener against Nashville SC will be the first time the two sides have played each other in an MLS match. The two teams met a combined four times during the 2018 USL Championship season and playoffs.
FC Cincinnati are 1-0-1 all-time in MLS home openers dating back to the club’s inaugural MLS home opener against the Portland Timbers on March 17, 2019. More than five months after the start of the 2020 MLS season, FC Cincinnati hosted their home opener following the MLS is Back Tournament by playing D.C. United to a scoreless draw on Aug. 21, 2020.
Tickets to the FCC home opener, which is Presented by Mercy Health, are currently only available through Season Ticket Memberships, which start at $325. Fans can put themselves in the best position to attend matches, including the May 16 match, by purchasing season tickets at fccincinnati.com/tickets or by calling 513-977-KICK (5425).
The upcoming season will be FC Cincinnati’s third season in Major League Soccer after joining as an expansion side 2019. West End Stadium is one of three brand-new venues set to debut this year – Columbus Crew SC’s New Crew Stadium and Austin FC’s Q2 Stadium will also host their first-ever matches during the 2021 season.
The full 2021 schedule will be released by MLS later this month. Full information on all announced MLS home openers is located below.
